Community in a tiny Willowvale village build their own clinic

Tired of losing loved ones who receive no health care because the nearest health centre is several kilometres away, the community of Mendwane in Willowvale collected money from each household and built their own clinic.

On 22 Feb the MEC for Health, Helen Sauls-August, will officially receive the “gift” from the community to the department and then hand it back to them with nurses and medicines.

“We always say democracy is government of the people, by the people, for the people. This is a perfect display of a viable partnership between citizens and the government they voted for”, proudly stated ANC Ward 21 Councillor, Siviwe Mrobo.
