An urgent application to interdict the appointment of the new chief financial officer (CFO) at the Makhado Municipality in Louis Trichardt, Limpopo, will be heard in the High Court in Polokwane.

Acting CFO Godfrey Raliphada is challenging the municipal council’s resolution of last month, which appointed Thangavhuelelo Mulatwa as the new CFO.

According to the information, Mulatwa was not a recommended candidate for the position.

In his affidavits, Raliphada stated that he was the best-performing candidate and scored 86% during the interviews.

He argues that a second-best candidate scored 69 percent while the third scored 45 percent. He has also said that the panel recommended him for the position.

He adds that there was a political interference that imposed Mulatwa.
