Reports of bitter fights inside the Kaizer Chiefs changerooms were brought back from memory when Maritzburg United announced that Mabhuti Khenyeza had been hired as the assistant coach to his erstwhile coach at Kaizer Chiefs, Mushin Ertugral. Back then, the two were reportedly sworn enemies that fought at training, in the changerooms and during matches.
In typical football spirit the two have now joined hands in an attempt to lift the club from the relegation zone. Until just days ago, Khenyeza, 36, was a full-time player for Amazulu FC. He retired from playing to take up the coaching position.
Maritzburg United are delighted to confirm the appointment of Mabhuti Khenyeza as assistant coach to Muhsin Ertugral.
🗣️ Khenyeza said, “Becoming a coach is something I always wanted to pursue after my playing career. I have kept an eye on the club over the years, and I am really happy to start my journey here.”
