In what many have called a desperate attempt by the Democratic Alliance to sound “black”, a poster has raised the ire of Zulu-speaking people who say that the butchering of their language is a sign of disrespect.
Ntuthuko Shongwe of Durban, one of the people asked randomly by HotNews, had this to say: “I am a DA member but I take serious exception at my mother tongue being butchered in this fashion. This is very disrespectful. The DA has many members and leaders whose mother tongue is IsiZulu, why were they not consulted when this was printed?”
The poster was shared widely on social media and many people labelled it as disrespectful to the language spoken by more than 12 million South Africans.
